Mid Semester Grade Student Learning Outcomes

Student Learning Outcomes of Intervention

For students who participate in the mid-semester grades intervention, as a campus we hope for them to:

  • Informed of Academic Policies and GPA Calculation - Be informed of the minimum academic expectations of UC Merced and the implications of not meeting them (e.g., delayed academic progress, financial and time-related consequences of delayed progress, possibility of academic dismissal, etc.)
  • Identify Challenges - Identify issues/barriers to their own personal academic progress/success (e.g., ineffective study habits, poor organizational skills, personal, financial, well-being etc.).
  • Identify Resources - Identify available resources and information to help overcome barriers and develop the academic skills and resilience needed to improve grades by the end of the term and, more broadly, to succeed at a research university.
  • Build a S.M.A.R.T. Goal - Create a plan for using resources and information (e.g., tutoring, study hours, workshops, and professor/TA office hours, with monitoring as appropriate) that includes Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and Time-bound goals (SMART Goal format).
