Every student at UC Merced has an assigned academic advisor. Academic advisors are here to provide guidance and support to students for their academic success. Meeting with advisors during walk-in or appointments offers students an opportunity to create connections with their advisor and have meaningful discussions about career interests or academic goals. Some topics that can be discussed include: schedule planning, career interests, choosing a major or a minor, and campus resources to support personal, academic, and career goals.
Students should come prepared to an advising appointment or walk-in hours with specific questions. This will ensure the student gets the most out of meetings with their advisor. Questions can include a variety of different topics.
Taking notes during your advising session is a good way to refer to them later. A lot of information is discussed during your meeting, so taking notes will make sure you don't forget important topics discussed. Notes will allow you to keep track of important deadlines mentioned by your advisor or any important websites or resources offered to students.
Your academic advisor is available to meet with you via Zoom or in-person during walk-in hours or in an appointment.
Check this page for your assigned academic advisor.
