Academic advising is a team effort at UCM.  Your academic advisor will provide the support and information you need to make decisions about your education. Academic advisors care about you as a whole person and are here to guide, listen and provide motivation when you need some extra encouragement.  It is your responsibility as a UC Merced student to read and understand the UC Merced General Catalog, and to know and fulfill the requirements for graduation.

Bobcat Advising Center

The UC Merced Bobcat Advising Center (BAC) serves all first year students in every major and all undeclared students in every class year.  First year students will meet with their assigned academic advisor in BAC multiple times during the first year.  BAC advisors assist students with developing an academic plan for the first year that supports the student's educational goals, identifying curricular and co-curricular opportunities that enhance academic and career goals, adjustment to the academic rigor of the research university, and accessing resources tailored to the student’s individual needs.
